Waste Animal Bones as Catalysts for Biodiesel Production; A Mini Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Slaughterhouse waste is considered to be an emerging issue because of its disposal cost. As alternative, it would a great prospect for the bioeconomy society explore new usages these leftover materials. per food safety rules mentioned by EU legislation, all bone generated slaughterhouses ought disposed rendering. The huge quantity worldwide generation (130 billion kilograms annum) environmental burden if not properly managed. animal bones can efficiently employed as heterogeneous catalyst produce biodiesel. This mini review summarized recent literature reported biodiesel using derived catalyst. It discusses sources waste, preparation methods, particularly calcination and effects, important characteristics suggests that catalysts extracted from have suitable catalytic activity in transesterification different oil generate good quality

Glycerol (Byproduct of Biodiesel Production) as a Source for Fuels and Chemicals – Mini Review

Currently the large surplus of glycerol formed as a by-product during the production of biodiesel offered an abundant and low cost feedstock. Researchers showed a surge of interest in using glycerol as renewable feedstock to produce functional chemicals. This Minireview focuses on recent developments in the conversion of glycerol into valueadded products, including citric acid, lactic acid, 1,3...

Biodiesel Production with Solid Catalysts

Biodiesel is usually produced by transesterification of vegetable oils or animal fats with chemical catalysts, especially in the presence of strong acidic or basic solutions, such as hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium methoxide and potassium hydroxide. Homogeneous alkali catalysts can convert triglycerides to their corresponding fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) with hig...

Waste Cooking Oil as an Alternate Feedstock for Biodiesel Production

As crude oil price reach a new high, the need for developing alternate fuels has become acute. Alternate fuels should be economically attractive in order to compete with currently used fossil fuels. In this work, biodiesel (ethyl ester) was prepared from waste cooking oil collected from a local restaurant in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Ethyl alcohol with sodium hydroxide as a catalyst was use...

Biodiesel production: a review

Biodiesel has become more attractive recently because of its environmental bene®ts and the fact that it is made from renewable resources. The cost of biodiesel, however, is the main hurdle to commercialization of the product. The used cooking oils are used as raw material, adaption of continuous transesteri®cation process and recovery of high quality glycerol from biodiesel by-product (glycerol...

Biodiesel production using solid metal oxide catalysts

Biodiesel production is worthy of continued study and optimization of production procedures due to its environmentally beneficial attributes and its renewable nature. Heterogeneous transesterification is considered to be a green process. The process requires neither catalyst recovery nor aqueous treatment steps and very high yields of methyl esters can be obtained, close to the theoretical valu...
